Being a social media marketer is not easy. It’s not just about posting a photo mindlessly, a good business account that captures the viewer’s attention requires thoughtful placement and nice artwork flows in an album. Doing this right can make your products or services stand out and become more appealing to the target audience.
Finding the right size for your Facebook photos can be frustrating sometimes, especially for some of you start-up entrepreneurs who manage Facebook Business Account by yourselves. So here’s an updated Facebook Size Guide for Photo Posts for the 2023 layout. See also our Instagram Size Guide here.
Facebook Page Cover & Profile Photo
Let’s start with your business profile pictures and Facebook banner size. The recommended size for a profile photo is 196 x 196 pixels at minimum (since it displayed 176 x 176 pixels on Desktop and 36 x 36 pixels on most feature phones). However, you can simply use the crop tool to easily resize your profile pictures as well.
Then we move up to the Facebook fanpage cover aka. the banner image, which is a little more tricky. The size has changed a bit since the last update. The whole image can fit 851 x 315 pixels and anything less will be stretched, but it is highly recommended to cram your most important information into the ‘Mobile Save Area’ at the central zone so that it still looks good on your mobile devices. But if you want better quality, use an image that’s 2037 x 754 pixels at maximum.
Tips: A new slideshow feature has been added for Facebook fanpage cover. You can now select up to 5 photos that rotate and also have a dynamically generated version that lets Facebook choose the photos based on what’s performing well and based on the activity on your page. You can turn this feature on or off using the switch at the top right of the slideshow editing screen.

Facebook Group Cover Image Size
For dealers based in private groups, the best Facebook Group Cover Image Size is 1640 x 856 pixels (or 1.91:1 ratio).
Facebook Event Cover Photo Size
For extroverted online merchants, the best Facebook Event Cover Photo Size is 1200 x 628 pixels.

Single Post Facebook Photo Size
Facebook photo size is limited to 30 megabytes. But usually, we don’t post a standard image that big anyway, as it can be a pain for your phone and takes a long time to load. So, what’s the best photo size for Facebook single posts?
1. Square Image
Ratio | 1:1
Recommended size | 1440 x 1440 pixels
Probably the most used Facebook post size. The best thing about this is that you can share it on Instagram right away, as it also uses 1:1 ratio.
2. Vertical Image
Ratio | 4:5
Recommended size | 1440 x 1800 pixels
Although not as often used as the square ratio, vertical images can give the audience a little bit of surprise factor and potentially grab their attention, as they need to scroll their fingers multiple times to get past this Facebook photo size.
3. Horizontal Image
Ratio | 1.91:1
Recommended size | 600 x 315 pixels
Horizontal images are quite popular and easy to post. You can also try images with 16:9 ratio at size 1920 x 1080 pixels to give it a more cinematic touch.

4. Shared Link Image
Ratio | 1:91:1
Recommended Size | 1200 x 630 pixels
Link sharing is super easy and can get your website link very far. It’s similar to posting a shared image, with more space to work your content on.
5. Highlighted Image
Recommended Size | 1200 x 717 pixels
Highlight image is a place to celebrate your business milestones. Anniversary? Hitting a million subs? The highlight image will be pinned on the top of your page, and take a bit more space than a shared link or image.
